About us

We’re excited to share our story.

Originally part of Birch Care, Birch Allied Health has now branched out as an independent entity — still deeply rooted in the foundational principles that define Birch Care.

Allied health support at Birch Allied Health

Why we started Birch Allied Health.

Our journey began in 2022, thanks to the vision of Shone Benjamin and Emmy Baert, a dedicated Mental Health Occupational Therapist. Starting as a small practice, our focus is on providing specialised mental health services, particularly for complex cases.

Our founder’s personal experience was the catalyst. After a car accident left him dealing with both physical and mental challenges, he faced a tough recovery. It was during this time he realised the importance of having control and choice in his care. That insight led to the creation of Birch Allied Health — a place where clients can feel empowered and enjoy their journey to wellness.

Our goal is to grow into a team renowned for its expertise and commitment to empowering individuals to lead lives they choose. We’re on a path to growth, aiming to broaden our allied health team.

With a background in psychology and a shift to occupational therapy to engage more directly with client needs, Emmy has been dedicated to the field since 2015. She’s driven by a passion to develop personalised mental health strategies that resonate with each individual.

As someone who is neurodiverse, Emmy embraces neuro-affirming therapy approaches, ensuring a compassionate and understanding service. When she’s not working, she finds joy in the great outdoors — mountain biking or camping — and has a deep appreciation for music.
